Determine when characteristic details such as extraordinary leaps, glowing eyes, metallic claws and fire-breathing first appear in contemporary records, and which details entered through later retellings, penny dreadfuls, folklore or popular media.
A source, research note, or further-reading link closes this question when staff accept it. Evidence and corrections stay attached for staff and do not close it by themselves.
