Trace the earliest surviving source for the Croglin Vampire story and determine when the alleged events were first assigned specific dates. Compare Augustus Hare's account with local newspapers, church and burial records, property history and later investigations. Identify which details have independent support and which originate only in Hare's narrative or later retellings.
