Case: GG-2026-015
Status: Active
Documentation rating: B
Location: Salem, Massachusetts

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Salem sits on one of the city’s oldest Anglican burial grounds. Nineteenth-century expansions built over parts of that yard: gravestones were moved, but many graves remained beneath the church and later chapel. Contemporary coverage of the 1833 rebuild reported workers disturbing remains. Modern ghost-tour claims (shadow figures, scents, cold spots) are mostly anonymous folklore. The better-documented puzzle is historical — what happened to the churchyard as the complex grew — not a settled paranormal case.

About 2010 I had a woman on my tour took a pic of the back of the church. In the photo was a shadow of a person on the ground in front of the flood light. Problem was no one was in the pic to block the light to cause the shadow. I nor anyone else in my tour group had any explanation.
