From 2011, and especially in 2017, witnesses across Chicago and the wider Lake Michigan shore reported a large winged humanoid — often dark, bat- or owl-like, sometimes with glowing or reflective eyes. Media and collectors labeled the wave “Chicago Mothman.” Dozens of accounts were logged that year, many near water. The reports are numerous and contemporary relative to Point Pleasant’s 1960s cluster, but they remain testimony gathered largely through paranormal blogs and local features. No verified specimen, clear identification, or proven link to West Virginia’s Mothman has been established.
