Case: GG-2026-056
Status: Historic
Documentation rating: A
Location: Strasbourg, Holy Roman Empire

In July 1518, an extraordinary mania struck Strasbourg when Frau Troffea began dancing uncontrollably in the streets. Within weeks, over four hundred citizens joined her in relentless movement, unable to stop despite exhaustion and injury. Lasting until September, the phenomenon resulted in several deaths and remains a historical enigma evaluated as mass psychogenic illness, ergot poisoning, or spiritual possession.
