On the evening of 12 September 1952, boys in Flatwoods, Braxton County, West Virginia, saw a bright object cross the sky and thought it had come down on the Fisher farm. Kathleen May, a National Guardsman, and five boys went up the hill with a flashlight. They came down saying a tall figure with a red face and a green body had moved toward them. The United Press had the story within two days. The sheriff, who reached the hill about an hour after they fled, saw, heard, and smelled nothing.
