One of the biggest issues I find in a lot of social media paranormal groups is every speck of dust in a pic being a 'orb' or 'ghost'. The issue that hurts the paranormal field as a whole IMO is the lack of critical analysis. When every lens flare, insects or bit of dust is being touted as a 'ghost' it totally cripples the credibility of actual potential images we can't easily explain or the credibility of the field in totality. It's hard to have credibility to people on the outside when everything is 'paranormal'.
I get wanting to be a 'believer'. I am too. But that does not mean we can not be analytical and rule out physical explanations first. I appreciate the groups and individuals who do such, but sadly there is so many who flood the field with obvious, easily explained images it bogs down real possible evidence as it gets lost in the noise in many cases. I'd like us here to be open minded of course but also not so open minded our brains fall out. There has to be a happy middle ground. And again, it's ok to be unsure or say "I don't know." but blindly accepting or debunking something I don't feel is really useful to the discussion we are all here to have.
I was trained when it comes to orbs is it has any translucency it most likely is glare, dust, moisture, insect, etc. If it is totally solid and round then it is in the maybe category and that is what you are looking for. That simple test really seems to work in my experience.
My 2 coppers. Love to know your thoughts.
