The Flight 19 Disappearance was the loss of five U.S. Navy TBM Avenger aircraft during a routine overwater navigation training mission on December 5, 1945. After becoming disoriented east of Florida, the flight lost radio contact and never returned to base. A Martin PBM Mariner search aircraft dispatched to locate the missing aviators also disappeared the same evening. Despite extensive searches and official investigations, no confirmed wreckage of Flight 19 has ever been recovered, and the incident later became one of the central stories associated with the Bermuda Triangle legend.
