Documentation rating: B
Location: Cideville, France

The Cideville Poltergeist is one of the most extensively documented nineteenth-century European poltergeist cases. Between late 1850 and early 1851, a series of unexplained disturbances reportedly occurred at a parish house in Cideville, Normandy. Witnesses described loud knocks, moving furniture, flying objects, responsive raps, and physical disturbances affecting residents. The case became so controversial that it ultimately entered the French legal system, generating sworn testimony and official records that survive today.
