The Moodus Noises are unexplained booms, rumbles, cracks, and subterranean sounds reported for centuries around Moodus, in East Haddam, Connecticut. Indigenous and colonial traditions once tied them to spirits, gods, or other non-ordinary forces. Modern monitoring links many of the sounds to shallow micro-earthquakes.
