The Spectre Leaguers of Cape Ann were a series of strange apparitions reportedly seen around Gloucester, Massachusetts during the summer of 1692. Witnesses claimed that mysterious men, phantom soldiers, and spectral armies appeared in fields, swamps, and near local garrisons. Contemporary colonists believed they faced either French and Native raiders or supernatural forces. Today the events survive as one of New England's strangest colonial-era paranormal legends.
