On 1986-01-29, residents of Dalnegorsk in the Soviet Far East reported a bright reddish spherical object crossing the town before descending toward Height 611, also known as Mount Izvestkovaya. A near-contemporary account by local investigator Valery Dvuzhilny described two school-age witnesses observing the object descend, apparently strike the hillside, and leave a glow or fire that remained visible for approximately an hour.
