Champ — sometimes “Champy” — is the name given to a legendary lake creature said to inhabit Lake Champlain, which borders New York, Vermont, and Quebec. Hundreds of sightings have been reported since the nineteenth century, but no physical evidence has confirmed the creature’s existence. Champ remains one of North America’s best-known lake-monster traditions.
